Stories of Loss 3

There was a lady who went to see a fortune teller. She gave the fortune teller the details of a person whose fortune she wanted to know. The fortune teller looked at the details and was very uncomfortable. She did not want to tell the fortune of this person.

The lady insisted and wanted to know the fortune. The fortune teller then asked, 'why do you want to know the fortune of someone who is no longer around?' The lady then acknowledged that yes, the person was her son and is no longer around. He had committed suicide. He had been a good boy and had never given his family any trouble. The lady wanted very badly to make sense of what was happening.

The fortune teller then told her that he left because his purpose has been served. He may have owed her in their past lives and his purpose in this life is to repay the kindness to her. And when the purpose has been served, it is also time to go. And this is how the fortune teller helped the lady to make sense of her loss.
