Dreamscape

"Dancing Sky" caught my attention with its visuals of two persons dancing around the moon in a fairy-like depiction. With a weakness for captivating visuals, I was determined to catch the outdoor performance at the National Museum of Singapore.

Having made my way there armed with sandwich and mat in hand, I was disappointed to find that the logistical inadequacies made it necsssary to relocate from our original picnic spot and forego the whole idea of a "picnic", resulting in me having to consume my sandwich standing amongst a crowd, pretty much "sandwiched" myself!

The logistical nightmare that it had become made the anticipation such a pain. After an almost 45 minute wait, Sandy and I decided that our patience has run dry and we should just go get some tea and cool ourselves down. Just as we made our way through the crowd and crossed the road away from the performance area, the emcee announced the commencement of the performance.

We stopped and turned around and watched magic unfold as the music started and the spotlight brought our attention to the ballerinas on the platform against the backdrop of the National Museum in all its grandeur. Beautiful and graceul, the dancers came to live. I am watching poety in motion.

Then there were a huge ship a flying ballerina, a ballerina on the piano, a dancer in a huge "zorb"-like ball, a row of larger than life dolls and dancers around a huge globe (just like it was on the visual communication!)...all continuing to awe me one after another.

I just thought "this is so beautiful" all this while as I am transfixed to the beautiful images literally floating before me. It's been some time that I have been so touched by such beauty that I feel I have been transported to another realm, maybe the land of the fairies.

As we walked away from the National Museum, the music continuing to flood the streets, there was a certain sense that I have left something beautiful behind. But I smiled at myself for having experienced something so beautiful and magical and having entered this dreamscape event if it was just for a little while.
