Bingo Mr Macho

After spending a whole long weekend watching a Korean serial, I am somewhat exhausted by Sunday night, a little by the repetitiveness at times, but very much by sitting teary-eyed in front of the tv screen continuously. Crying can be very tiring.

Having watched about four episodes on Friday, I had a realisation as to why female audience simply get hooked to Korean serials and swoon over the male lead, whether he is a good-looker or not is often secondary. They can be macho or even a little chauvanistic at times, but what sets them apart is when they start tearing for the woman they love.

I guess that's what makes a woman's heart melt, when she sees a man shed tears for the one he loves.

Something that comes naturally for women, somehow seems elusive in men in the world of Hollywood or HKTV. Strange. Are Korean movies exaggerating the depth of emotion in men, and that Hollywood is accurate in portraying men in all their macho-ness and being too strong to cry? I am not a good judge, I have yet to encounter a teary man.

In any case, being macho alone is sometimes not enough, I guess it takes a lot more guts to face up to your feelings.

Show me the feeling man!
