Springcleaning

"Our affections often grow towards our investments. Wherever we put our time, money and energy also ends up receiving our passion, interest and affection."

This is what I read today about relationships. The author proposes that the lack of intentional investment in a relationship leads to a lack of interest. Naysayers would argue that a lack of interest leads to the lack of intentional investment.

Sounds really like an issue of whether there was the chicken or the egg first.

In my springcleaning mode, I figured what he says about relationships could well apply to our belongings, which we spend time, money and energy to acquire. And what apply to things could well apply to people and relationships.

Some things you acquire because you thought you need it. But you don't. Some things you took a risk on, yet they grow on you.

Some things have a short shelf life. They may have been treasured, but in fact have surreptitiously expired. Some things have no expiry date, but have parted ways with your life.

Some things were accumulated in the spur of the moment. And some things are timeless.
